J.R.R. Tolkien
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on 3rd January 1892 in Bloemfontein in South Africa.
His parents were English.
He had a little brother who was born on 17th February 1894.
When he was three, he went to England with his mother and his brother because his father had died of rheumatic fever.
At the beginning, he was taught by his mother but later, he attended King Edward School and after that, he arrived at St Philip School, in Birmingham.
When he was twelve, his mother died.
In 1908, he met Edith Bratt Mary, who was an orphan too. He married her on 22nd March 1916. -Between 1917 and 1924, he had three sons and one daughter.
In 1920, he worked at the University of Leeds where he translated a lot of books like Sir Gawain, Pearl and Sir Orfeo and where he started writing The Hobbit.
He wrote a lot of books like The Adventure of Tom Bombadil and The Tolkien Reader.
-He wrote his most famous book, The Lord of the Ring, between 1954 and 1955.
-He would write fantastic stories.
-He would write for adults but he also write for children.
-He died on 2nd September 1973 in Bornemouth, in England.
